The i3 program is a unique student-run non-profit enterprise operating within the Moore School at the University of South Carolina. The purpose of www.InnovationInInsurance.com is to foster innovation in the way insurance is practiced by providing a portal to all online resources helpful to insurance technology, services, and outsourcing. Our mission is to develop the next generation of insurance and insurance technology leaders by exposing them to the insurance industry through major news and events.

News and announcements from the insurance technology industry are published on the i3 website. Such news includes information on mergers, acquisitions, major investments, new products, new personnel, and major industry developments and events. The leading stories of the week are sent in our weekly newsletter to our nearly 1100 subscribers. Another valuable resource that we provide is a comprehensive directory of more than 650 insurance technology vendors.

i3 introduces students to the insurance technology sector and prepares them for a career in insurance technology. Students will gain the experience of running a full-time business where they can build relationships with insurance entities locally and around the world. i3 helps to develop their creative potential and prepare them for full-time employment after graduation. The i3 students aggregate information across the insurance and insurance technology industries.  In compiling this information, the headlines of noteworthy stories are added to our website and the best stories of the week are published in the weekly newsletter. The skills learned working with i3 will develop the next generation of insurance technology leaders in Columbia and around the world.

Insurance technology touches every part of every insurance business process - from the time that a policy is sold until the last claim dollar is paid and the policy has expired. For example, insurance agents, insurance companies, claims adjusters, and almost everyone else in the insurance industry use computers and computing power today. As information technology continues to evolve, it will support more and more insurance processes.
