NAIC (National Association of Insurance Commissioners) - an organization of the 50 US state insurance heads through which they coordinate much of their activity.
NICPA (National Insurance Consumer Protection Act) - site dedicated to monitoring the bill that would create the option of federal regulation for insurance companies. Site is dedicated to providing a free-market perspective on the idea of an optional federal charter, while also providing accurate and timely information on the debate. The site is maintained by the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), a Washington-based conservative thinktank.
NCOIL (National Conference of Insurance Legislators) - an organization of US state legislators whose main area of public policy concern is insurance legislation and regulation. Many legislators active in NCOIL either chair or are members of the committees responsible for insurance legislation in their respective state houses across the country.
FINRA - (Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) - the largest non-governmental regulator for all securities firms doing business in the United States. Oversees almost 5,000 brokerage firms, over 170,000 branch offices and over 670,000 registered securities representatives. Created in July 2007 through the consolidation of NASD and the member regulation, enforcement and arbitration functions of the New York Stock Exchange.

IAIS (International Association of Insurance Supervisors) - Established in 1994, represents insurance regulators and supervisors of some 190 jurisdictions.
FSA (Financial Services Authority) - Governs insurance in the UK
